Composing a Size Jacket

Why a jacket from NEW TAILOR?

First, it is important that we get to know each other a little. We talk through what your expectations are and what your preferences are. Once we have an idea about that, you get to see (lots of) fabrics. Then you choose what the fabric of the jacket and the lining will look like. After these choices we measure you and determine where we are going to have the jacket and with what construction. Then we go to work for you, ordering the fabric, determining the pattern and putting out the orders. After a few weeks, we meet again at the first fitting. Then the clothing is 95% finished. We always do the finishing touches in our own atelier in the store. Because then we see if the fit really suits your body and you come out of the fitting room with a smile.

You can of course choose how many buttons you want. Usual is two buttons or two and half buttons for a single breasted jacket. For the double, we like six buttons (two rows of three buttons.) But as you would expect from us, there are more options. The choice is yours. Then you choose the lapels. Cropped or not during the fitting we often determine the width. There is a buttonhole in the lapel that is meant to hold a flower or small corsage piece. We can choose a Milanese buttonhole. This is then put in by hand with the greatest care. A trained tailor takes about fifteen minutes to do this. It is something for the real connoisseurs because even a machine-made buttonhole can look very beautiful.

Then we continue to make a choice about the pockets. Here we see the patch pocket and the flap pocket. But there are more choices to make here. So you can also choose a jetted pocket. Then you only see a small piping of the pocket. We can also slant the pockets in the jacket, so it goes with the shape of your body.

Vind je het lastig om te kiezen tussen een paspel zak of een klep zak. Ga dan voor de klep zak want met het klepje naar binnen gevouwen lijkt het net een paspel zak. De borstzak maken we vaak in een   barchetta. Deze heeft de vorm van een bootje, licht gebogen en een beetje schuin. Zo volgt hij de ronding van je borst het mooiste.

4 kissing knopen op de mouw als optie en schuine klepzak

Het lijkt een klein detail maar het laat wel echt zien wie je bent. Het aantal  knopen op de mouw. Hier ben je helemaal vrij in. Meestal zien we toch de gebruikelijke 4-knoops. Je kan ook kiezen voor 3 of 2 knoopjes. Voor een smoking kan 1 koop ook heel mooi zijn. Vooral als die bedekt is met de zelfde zijde als het revers. Mouwknopen die elkaar een beetje overlappen noemen we kissing-buttons en dat vinden wij mooi.

In conclusion

Er zijn nog meer mogelijkheden en keuzes. Zoals de schouderverwerking, mate van wegsnijden van de voorpanden, breedte van de revers en dan natuurlijk nog de pasvorm.
